Question of the Week: – What has you most excited for fall, beauty product or otherwise?

Answer:  Noo clothes!  I love buying for the colder weather.  Coats, jeans, scarves and boots – I really have to reign myself in when it comes to Autumnal shopping.  Oh and did I mention red lipstick?  I’m a bit too conformist to break out my reds in the Summer.  Hurry up Autumn!

Vampy Varnish – Kelly shows you how not to wear your lipstick and lipliner in the first of her new series How NOT to Wear…

Question of the Week: – What’s your favorite haircare line?

Answer: None.  I chop and change my hair products more than any other because I suffer from a very tempremental scalp that reacts in the flakiest of ways on a whim.  I can be using something without issues only for the itch to set in a few months down the line.  The only thing I’m really faithful to is my Gielly Green Argan Rescue Oil.

.

Phyrra – The Independent Spotlight for August is Silk Naturals! Learn all about Karen and her company, as well as enter the SN Giveaway.

Vampy Varnish – Check out the On The Prowl nail collection from Wet n Wild for Fall 2011!

Krasey Beauty – Sit back and enjoy, as we weave a tale of magic, mischief, and the Zoya Nail Polish Mirrors Collection.

Nouveau Cheap – doesn’t do purple lipsticks, but this one brought her to her knees (and made her open her wallet).

Pink Sith – reminds you to pick up those Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Collection lipsticks before they disappear when his new beauty line is released in the fall.

Prime Beauty – says the new NARS Larger Than Life lip glosses give a GIANT dose of shine in 8 fabulous colors!

Question of the Week: – What perfume can bring back memories with just one sniff?

Answer: I bought Mr. L the original Chanel Egoiste when we first met many years ago and although the bottle has long been emptied, I’ve kept it for sly sniffs until I can get my hands on a replacement.  It evokes memories of holidays we took, meals we shared and films we saw when we were newly together.  Such a shame it’s scarcer than hen’s teeth nowadays.  Stupid Platinum version I DON’T WANT YOU!

.

Pink Sith – has swatches of two of the new NARS Night Series Nail Polishes. One conjures memories of a 1980’s rock song and the other, a 1980’s TV show. Find out which is which!

.

Come on, what about you?  What is your most evocative fragrance?

Question of the Week: – What’s your favorite skincare line?

Answer: Elemis because their products are an unadulterated pleasure to use but I’m currently really appreciating the results I’m getting from Skinceuticals too.

.

Orange to LA – shares her casual yet cool Style Essentials, see what items she needs to have in her stash at ALL times.

Question of the Week: – In some sort of cruel twist of fate, it’s ruled that you can only wear one brand for the rest of your life – which do you choose?

Answer: – If I had a perfect face and didn’t NEED my Lancome foundation…. maybe Chanel ‘cos I could live in their eyeshadows/blushes/lipsticks/eyeliners quite comfortably for the rest of my life.  But what about mascara?  And my Guerlain Meteorites?  No, I can’t do it… don’t make me do it.

.

Nouveau Cheap – gives you an in-depth review of the new Salma Hayek Nuance Beautiful Blends Eye Quad, and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before (no, really).

Orange to LA – Continues her Color Inspiration & Coordination series. This time her inspiration is a cute orange Birkin inspired tote bag. See which orange products she loves this season.

Pink Sith – is just one “Bye” short of an ’N Sync Reference when she tells you how much she loves the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer!

This week’s around the blogosphere love in…

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on a beauty product?

Oh… oh.  Err.  My husband reads my blog yano?  Especially when I don’t want him to.  It’s a sixth sense, like spidey sense but less cute and more likely to get me in trouble.

I bought a £40 blush a few months ago and I like Elemis.  A lot.  I’m also getting a taste for perfumes that go beyond sensible prices.  I’m trying to be coy about it… ok, it’s probably a Creme delaMERDEthatsexpensive eye cream that was…. ok.

But the thing is, for me… it’s the fripperies that add up.  All those little “ooh that’s a bargain, I’ll just get this, this and this” that end up costing more than I bargained (harhar) for.

Lipglossiping – champions the Brit pack with a couple of purchases from Mary Quant Cosmetics, ironically… made in Japan!

Nouveau Cheap – There’s a surprising little twist to the new Wet n Wild Juicy Lip Balms. What could it be?

Orange to LA – has been smitten with another blush, this time it is Giorgio Armani Blushing Fabric #5 Raspberry. Find out if you need this blush in your collection!

Pink Sith – has pictures and swatches of the Nordstrom Annual Sale EXCLUSIVE Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Rose Tourbillon. Something to add to your shopping list!

Phyrra – has an awesome Vampirella liner tutorial for you!

Vampy Varnish – loves the new Wet n Wild Nail Color Collection called Mermaid’s Cove ! Which are your favs?

we heart this – Our beauty scientist put Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner to the test. Did it pass with flying colors, or running streaks?

Beauty Junkies Unite – Amber reviews some of the July exclusive Limited Edition Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquers to see how they perform!

C’mon… own up!  What’s the most YOU’VE ever spent on a beauty product?

Time for another ’round the blogosphere’ love in…

What’s a beauty trend that you wish would go away?

Ohhh, controversial!  Hmmm… there’s a few.  I can do a few right?

1.  Gel lipsticks with a hint of colour.  Buy a lip balm.

2.  Accent nails.  Sorry, but they upset my sense of symmetry.

3.  Foaming hair dyes.  Either get it right, or pack it in.

.

Beauty Junkies Unite – Amber shares the entire Dolce & Gabbana Italian Summertime makeup collection, is there anything here you find swoon-worthy?

Clumps of Mascara – can’t take her hands off of Milani’s limited edition Paint palette.

Lipglossiping – puts the stamp of approval on FIVE of the hottest pink lipsticks for Summer!

Nouveau Cheap – shows you all six palettes in the Wet n Wild limited edition Dream Weavers collection. Is it cheesy to say these shadows are “out of this world”?

Orange to LA – discovers another highlighter to add to her collection. This time it’s Chanel Pearl Glow Powder (Poudre Lumiere Perlee), from the new Chanel Le Blanc Collection. She loves it, will you?

Pink Sith – Joeybunny shows you how beautiful the NYX Nude On Nude Palette can be, and why she loves it so!

Vampy Varnish – Thinks the new MAC Colourizations Eyeshadow Pro Palette x2 are pretty cool!

What’s the one shade you wish you could pull off, but can’t?

Easy peasy… you can count on one hand the number of times I’ve posted a FOTD on here wearing green eyeshadow.  It looks vile against both my skintone and eye colour.  I’ve tried khaki and lime, chartreuse and forest, jade and seafoam.  It just ain’t happening in this lifetime.

Well… assuming we’re all still here and haven’t been “raptured” by the morning, here’s this week’s question of the week!

Which products would you confiscate from your 16 year old self’s makeup bag?!

I wouldn’t have confiscated it but I would have issused a distinct “Woah! There Nelly!” warning regarding my (over)use of black kohl.  I spent a good 2 years of the late 90s looking like a startled Panda.  I definitely would have confiscated all my germ-breeding foundation sponges that never saw even a speck of baby shampoo for many, many months.  Who says teenagers aren’t completely disgusting?

Here’s this week’s Lipstick League!

.

Pink Sith – Knows the end is coming when she professes her love for a 2nd Clinique product, Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum!

EauMG – This niche Hollywood perfume house will have you smelling like a 1950’s poolside pin-up with their Kitten. Meow!

Nouveau Cheap – gives you an up-close look at the last of the three limited edition Summer 2011 collections from Wet n Wild: Inked (inspired by urban art culture).

Orange to LA – is on her 4th container of LUSH Oatifix Fresh Face Mask. Find out why she’s smitten!

The Lipstick League – Week of 9.5.11

Posted by Lipglossiping On May - 15 - 2011

Morning!

It’s Leila’s 2nd Birthday Party today and I’ve been in the kitchen for what feels like the past 72hrs solid.  I don’t know why I’ve bothered to be honest… I know my girl and she’d be happier with a Curly Wurly than any of the ‘creations’ I’ve lovingly put together.  Oh well, I’m happy to sacrifice my waistline for the greater good.

Anyway, this week’s fantabulous Lipstick League…

This week’s question of the week…

What was the first beauty product that you ever tried?

There are two products in particular that I remember spending my money on when I was younger… we’re talking about 16 years ago.  The first was a mid-lilac eyeshadow in the Avon Colour Trend range, I thought it looked hawt.  Infact, I still reckon it probably did.  What?!  It totally did!

It had horrible lurid green packaging and a sponge applicator that I WORE through, I loved it so much.

The other product that I remember repurchasing fairly often from my local chemist was a compact powder.  I can’t remember what brand… but I think the shade was called Candlelight?  It didn’t have a mirror or anything fancy(!) like that… but I can always remember patting it on my shiny nose with those little powder puffs in the toilets at school!

Pink Sith – Joeybunny has 3 new TAUPE eyeshadows to show you with her Introduction To Silk Naturals post!

Phyrra – raves about Sonia Kashuk Makeup Remover and tells you why it’s her favorite.

Vampy Varnish – loves the new Kat Von D Angeles Eyeshadow Palette.

we heart this – All this beauty has made us thirsty! Doesn’t a Lemongrass Mojito sound good right about now? We’ve got an original recipe for you.

Beauty Junkies Unite – has the scoop on the newest eyeshadow releases from bareMinerals for Summer 2011, and she can’t stop looking at the colors. Check out her easy to re-create “Calypso Sunrise” eye look!

Clumps of Mascara – is in a Target Beauty contest and needs your vote to advance to the next round. Vote daily!

EauMG – EauMG introduces a perfume that proves that smelling good does not need to cost a fortune. Move over Montale! Here’s Pirouette Essentials.

Lipglossiping – will use any old excuse to drag out her collection of NARS blushes. It’s a NARS Blush-a-palooza!!

Nouveau Cheap – My favorite post this week is actually one I did at another blog! These new eyeshadows and liners from Hard Candy aren’t just hot, they’re downright baked and molten.

.
