The Lipstick League – Week of 6.10.14

Posted by Lipglossiping On October - 14 - 2014

Question of the Week: When applying your makeup, do you stand or sit? Where do you apply it? In your bedroom, bathroom or…?

lipstickleague - final

Answer: I hover between the bedroom and the hallway to apply my makeup.  My Ikea Alex is just inside the bedroom door but there’s no mirror nearby.  So I lean into the bedroom to grab what I need and use the mirror on the wall in the hall to apply it.  It’s a bad, bad situation for a beauty blogger.  When I’m rich, I’m gonna have a full-sized vanity area with some decent lighting.  None of this energy-saving-takes-until-you’re-50-to-illuminate-the-bulb crap.

Question of the Week: When a beauty product is labeled “Limited Edition” (LE), are you more inclined to purchase it?

lipstickleague - final

Question of the Week: Which celebrity do you wish would create a celebrity fragrance and why?  What do you think it should smell like?

lipstickleague - final

Answer: What a great question! Ok, I’m sticking with ladies for now…

If the celebrity has to be living… then I’d say Debbie Harry or Grace Jones.  However, if I could choose anyone, it’d be Janis Joplin.

Phyrra – Looking to save time in the morning? Check out my Best Time Saving Multi-Tasking Beauty Products!

Question of the Week: You can only wear one shade of lipstick for the rest of your life – name it.

lipstickleague - final

Answer: A year ago, I’d have thought this an impossible question to answer.  Today, I can do it…

If I could only wear one shade of lipstick for the rest of my life…. it would be Clarins Joli Rouge Brillant in #20 Coral Tulip.  The absolute irony of me choosing this particular lipstick is that it combines the two things that I claim not to like in lipsticks.  One, it’s sheer and two… it’s coral.  Whoulda fucking thunk it.

My Beauty Bunny – If your skin could use some moisture and pampering, you need to check out Onsen’s Milk Lotion Cleanser. Based on the skin rejuvenating powers of Japanese hot springs, this gentle wash does both beautifully!

Pink Sith – reviews the BVLGARI Omnia Coral EdT and is offering a full size one as a giveaway thanks to the folks from ShopAtHome.com. Enter Today! (US only)

Phyrra – shares her best Summer Hair Care Tips!

we heart this – is giving away the BPAL Pretty Deadly perfume oil collection; seven gorgeously kick ass bottles!

Clumps of Mascara – is in love with black eyeliners. Like…a lot. Here’s a list of some of her favorites.

EauMG – has a new favorite “beach” scent. Now she just needs a beach vacation to go with the fragrance!

Gouldylox Reviews – Makeup Wars is all about the best black liner. Waterlines, smudging, liquid – you name it, we’ve got the right liner!

Question of the Week: What are your favorite types of facial cleansers? (Gel, self-foaming, cream, oil, cloths, etc.)

lipstickleague - final

Answer: Cream cleansers ftw.  Applied liberally and massaged onto dry skin before removing with a thick, hot, flannel!  If I’m washing my face in the shower though, I won’t be parted from my LUSH Let The Good Times Roll exfoliating cleanser. It’s only June but I’m almost 100% certain that come December, it’ll still be my “find” of the year.

EauMG – Keep cool this summer with EauMG’s refreshing mint perfume guide.

Gouldylox Reviews – Summer is all about the flawless face that looks like you didn’t try to hard. Get effortlessly gorgeous with this new foundation from It Cosmetics!

Question of the Week: What’s the last lip product you applied?

lipstickleague - final

Answer: As I’m scheduling this post a couple of days in advance, I’m sitting here wearing the delicious RMK W Crayon & Gloss Lips that was such an unexpected and happy discovery.  And each time I pass the mirror, I swear it’s looking better the longer it wears!

Question of the Week: If you could splurge on one luxury beauty treatment (think facial, salon visit, massage etc.), what would it be?

lipstickleague - final

Answer: Right now? A massage. Especially if it focused on my legs, feet, and calf muscles.  They’re restless as hell when I’m trying to fall asleep and then I wake up with cramps!  I’m not hugely keen on facials, they’re ok… but I just don’t feel any long term benefits like I do with a bloody good massage.

Nouveau Cheap – Mint green, gray and blue lipsticks? Don’t say no until you see my swatches of the brand new NYX Macaron Lippies (you might just change your mind!).

Gouldylox Reviews – A beauty blogger talking about shoes? These are so good you need to grab at least one pair. Plus, I’ve got a giveaway!

Lipglossiping – enjoys watching the rainbows flicker across her nails with the addition of A-England’s Ascalon nail polish to her collection

Question of the Week: Do you have a “signature” scent? If so, what is it?

lipstickleague - final

Answer: In my husband’s eyes… my signature scent would be Dior’s Hypnotic Poison… but in mine, it’s the ultimately cooler and of course far less mainstream (*rolls eyes at self*) Miller Harris L’air de Rien!

My Beauty Bunny – Add a little more beauty to life with goodies found in the aisles of Target! Check out our review of the skin-saving It’s a Beautiful Life kit from Pacifica.

Question of the Week: What color do you have on your nails right now?

lipstickleague - final

Answer: My nails are completely bare right now… they’ve gotten so dry recently that I’ve been forced to grin and bear a little bit of nail rehab in the form of much cuticle-moisturising and TLC.  I’d like to say that it’s helping to solve the problem… but I fear that it might take nothing short of a blowtorch to fix my poorly talons.

The Lipstick League – Week of 17-03-2014

Posted by Lipglossiping On March - 24 - 2014

Question of the Week: What is your all-time favorite drugstore lipstick?

lipstickleague - final

Answer:  Oh boy.  Hardest question ever.  Can I name a range of lipsticks rather than just a single shade?  My favourite drugstore line of lipsticks is the Revlon Super Lustrous, the brand never stop producing fantastic shades in formulas that have stood the test of time.  When you think about many of the high-street classic shades, it’s the Revlon Super Lustrous range behind them: Cherries in the Snow, Black Cherry, Pink in the Afternoon, Fire & Ice.  That’s a lot of good lipsticks from one line-up.

A lot of my favourites have long-been discontinued but because of their mass-availability, I’m still able to grab them on eBay more often than not… greats like: Strawberry Suede, Pink Velvet, and Raspberry Bite.  Oh, I do love this range with all my heart, you can see why I can’t just pick one!

Clumps of Mascara – is all over this fantastic concealer from IMAN Cosmetics. It goes from a powder to a creme. It’s magic!

EauMG – shares a list of perfume names that make her feel sad. But, hopefully this post will leave you feeling glad.

My Beauty Bunny – Want fuller, plumper, kissable lips? City Cosmetics’ City Lips Lip Plumper delivers! And we’ve got the before and after pictures to prove it.

Nouveau Cheap – swatches what might possibly be the most beautiful drugstore blushes she’s ever seen.

Pink Sith – imagines that a Samurai Princess would fall in love with Tatcha’s Indigo Soothing Silk Body Care Line while still being incredibly badass on the battlefield!

Prime Beauty – found and beautiful and easy way to bring Radiant Orchid, Pantone Color of the Year into her wardrobe with butterLONDON’s Molly Coddled!

Phyrra – shares the Best Cruelty Free Illuminizers. Get your glow on!
