I keep reading China Glaze Ingrid being described as a taupe or a greige. I’m not pedantic over shade names… hell, I’m always getting corrected for describing them a bit squiffy, but Ingrid looks like an out and out brown to me. Brown with gold micro-glitter.
It’s stunning, but the gold glimmer warms it up a bit too much for my skintone. You can’t see the gold very well on my nails thanks to the overcast skies, but it’s clearly visible in the bottle.
I found Ingrid to be quite thin and three coats were needed to reach the above finish. It’s a really lovely twist on the whole brown/greige/taupe (I’m so tempted to add ‘shitfingers’ – your fault Karleigh) and may be a great choice for those of you who find the trend leaves their skintone looking a bit flat.

AGREED. Too brown for my liking. Bizarrely however, if I concentrate purely on your nails and the colour rather than your hand I start to crave a bar of Cadbury’s!
I keep looking at swatches of this and can’t make my mind up whether to purchase it or not. I’m too indecisive!

I like the gold sparkle, but I think it probably wouldn’t work with my skin tone either. x
Wow that looks so different from Karlasugar’s swatch! Is it really that dark? Looks a lot like an ooooooold Bourjois I have then, gold glimmer and everything, not greige at all.

I’ve had a look and to be honest, the KS swatch is under artificial light which will lighten or darken the shade depending on how far away the nails are from the light source!
It also looks much ‘greyer’ in the KS swatch. Ingrid is definitely more brown than grey and mid-dark with 3 coats xx
Haven’t tried it, but uh, yep … looks brown to me! : P Maybe with a *tiny* touch of gray.

I just used it on my toes, actually! I HATE it on my toes. It makes my feet look dirty. When I use it for a manicure, however, it looks fabulous. Go figure. I took it all off and am about to do some OPI Swiss colors instead. Not in a brown mood 😉
I was led to believe this was a taupe/greige as well and was really looking forward to it because of that. When I tried it though I had the same thought as you… wtf brown? O.o I do still like it, that shimmer adds something to it, but again like you, it doesn’t much suit my skin tone. *sigh*

I’ve Ingrid on my nails now. I really love the colour, definitely one of my favourites this autumn.
