As I look through my collection of cosmetics, I see the same names appear over and over…
and over again…
NARS, MAC, Shu Uemura for the high end stuff.
Bourjois, NYX and GOSH for the high street.
I’m a creature of habit it seems. It’s not that I don’t love to expermient… a beauty blogger is nothing if not adventurous and as I’ve said from the very beginning… this has never been a quest to find my holy grail items. If I stopped looking and being tempted by new products, the fun would be gone for me.
However, in a beauty world that promises you the Earth… I tend to fall back on brands that deliver time and time again. Brands that perform well for my particular needs.
So I’ve started to think about the brands that I haven’t taken the time to explore and get a feel for…
For me, it would have to be:
Laura Mercier, Lancome, Bobbi Brown (though I’m just starting to) and Giorgio Armani (high end)
Max Factor, Milani, Too Faced and Prestige (high street)
I’m curious to see if we get much repetition in brand names…
Which brands remain relatively unexplored territory for you (both high end and high street)?
Too Faced are awesome, I love their eyeshadows and prefer their eyeshadow primer to Urban Decay’s. Unexplored realms for me are NARS, Bobbi Brown and pretty much all drugstore brands! I’m a mineral/ indie make-up lover, 90% of my make-up shopping is done online.
Unexplored Highend : Loads, but mainly NARS and Bobbi Brown, both of which I want to try.
Unexplored Lowend : NYX, I majorly want to try some NYX!
Brands that fill my drawers:
High End: Dior, NARS, Chanel
Drugstore/High Street: Maybelline, Revlon (but just lipsticks)
Brands I want to Explore (except not really because it’s healthier for my wallet):
High End: YSL, Guerlain, Armani (have a bit but not lots)
Drugstore/High Street: Hard Candy (finally in Canada!), Milani (Ditto), GOSH (I keep waiting for it to go on sale)
Erm, you call “Too Faced” hightstreet? That sounds pretty posh and expensive to me. Even milani is expensive on a british point of view since we can’t readily find it here. xx
Hmm for me, some brands remain purposely unexplored because of their poor shade choice. A quick look at a counter/website determines if I’ll spend time getting to know a brand.
I’d like to to check Stila, Cargo, Giorgio Armani and Shu Uemura in more detail. I’m pretty familiar with most high street brands and if I don’t use them, it’s out of choice.
Unexplored high end: Chanel, Clarins, Armani, YSL, Guerlain, Shu Uemura.
Unexplored high street: Revlon, Prestige (although their Silk Lipliner is amazing), 17 (apart from the Mirror Shine lipsticks).
we’re quite similar in colourings/skin type so I will let you do all the hard work =)
Too faced to me seems a bit overpriced for what it is, and is a bit of a second rate Urban Decay. Agreeing with Liloo not what I would class as low end!
I’m really starting to get into D&G I saw the most amazing nude quad and normally I just think these uber posh brands are for rich old women but I’m going to go to Harrods and properly check it out!
Exploring FTW
I haven’t really delved into the super luxe boutique branded makeup, Edward Bess or Metier de Beaute for instance.
Drugstore wise, I’m pretty sure I’ve tested every brand at least once thanks to sales here in the states, though obviously I am sorely lacking in UK makeup and other brands we can’t get here like Rouge Bunny Rouge. =)
I’m more interested in newer brands. BB Couture for nails. Calvin Klein for nails. Very underrated. Guerlain is a favourite high-end. I go for the ones not everyone has.
High end brands that i’ve not explored yet are: Guerlain, Lancome, Dior, Giorgio Armani, Bobbi Brown. And the high street one has to be max factor – Nothing really interests me from there so I don’t think i’d bother. Brands that I keep going back to time and time again have to be RMK, YSL and NARS, for highstreet it’s revlon, bourjois and maybelline.
Oh, I forgot one ..Rouge Bunny Rouge. The e/s are gorgeous…but too bloody expensive!!
I think I tend to fall in and out of love with brands – sometimes I’ll discover new ones (right now I’m on a Bobbi Brown kick, which is a new one for me) but then I’ll go back to “old” loves again. MAC, Dior and Chanel seem to be the constant ones I return to, but there’s always room to try something new! I’m thinking maybe Illamasqua next..!
I’ve been really impressed with Prestige so far. I’m just beginning my beauty adventures after sticking to No. 7 for so long, so there are loads of brands I want to try! x

I really would not bother with Too Faced. It’s overpriced trash, it really is. I’ve got their natural palette and I hated it. If you want, I could send it to yoou for you to try out. Let me know.
But yeah, I need to explore
Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Milani, Dior (there’s loads I haven’t tried but can’t think, heh!)

We’ve all got our favourite brands 😉 i’m always going for Deborah for liquid liners and powder foundations, while always Clarins for the liquid ones. L’ Oreal is for Mascara… i barely ever have swayed away from those brands :/
Brands i’d really love to sink my teeth into must be CoverGirl, Nars and Dior. I’m also quite curious about Lime Crime’s magic dust – i really fancy their colours & the whole product presentation 🙂
High end.. Filled with Dior, Chanel and some EL, I’d like to try some more Guerlain I have some but not that much.
High road.. Stila, mac and UD.. I also have too faced shadow insurance.. Which I’m probably never going to buy again because it’s separated on me and it’s not even a few months old?! Swatched some TF colours too, I think it’s a bit of a hit and miss from what I saw.. might take the plunge though.
Save yourself the money on the Lime Crime. :p Check out tkb trading instead which is the wholesaler, pretty much the same product,(if not identical which is the wise word on the street), unless you really want the packaging.
I really don’t use any high end products, not even MAC, NARS or Shu Uemura that you mentioned. Not that I wouldn’t like to try but honestly don’t see a point paying 50€ for eyeshadows (like Chanel’s) that seem as good as cheaper ones.
Not even sure how many High Street/Drugstore stuff there are I’d like to try, sort of feel like I’d rather go for indie make up companies if I’d have to choose.
i really like Laura Mercier, i own a blush and a eye brow pencil and i think they are amazing.
although shes all about creating the perfect base, and that alone is enough for me to buy into a brand (sigh haha) xxx
you have to try givenchy and armani both hun, they have stunning products!
i haven’t tried trish mcevoy, bought anything from bobbi brown either. would love to try d&g makeup but its not available in Ireland
Heheh. Heh. >__>;; I have so many unexploreds I’m almost embarrassed to name them all. The ones I really want to try are: Shu Uemura, Bobbi Brown, NARS, Illamasqua, Bourjois, Too Faced, Tarte, Majolica Majorca, Lavshuca, and Kanebo.
I also need to delve into NYX a LOT more. As of now, I only own one thing from them. Urk.
I’ll like to explore Bobbi Brown, but here in Montreal, there is only two places to find it. Plus, i think its pretty expensive too.
I have very sensitive and allergy prone skin so I have tried a lot and i have to say that the brands I love are the ones that work best for me especially because Im a pale albino mexican and some companies dont have a shade light enough so:
High End: Dior, Make Up Forever, Smashbox, La Bella Donna, Smashbox and YSL.
Drugstore: Rimmel, L’oreal (hello voluminuos mascara!), NYX.
The brands I would love to try is Kat Von D for sephora, Illamasqua, Ben Nye and Pur Minerals.
And can I just say that I apreciatte the fact that youre not MAC obsessed and only review there products :-).

Drugstore: Bourjois, Milani, Physicians Formula, and I’d like to try a bit more from Prestige. I really like the look of their baked products!
