So, with the adult testing done and dusted… Lush’s new FUN bars had yet to inspire a huge amount of whooping, or any of the sort of revelry you’d expect from something billed as, well… so. much. FUN.
It was time to get serious and put these curious blobs to the ultimate test.
Leila is pretty hard to please: “But this is BORINGGGG!” being her most used expression this week. I could practically see the little green bar sweating in its biodegradeable wrapper, readying itself for the ultimate small-child test. We broke off about a quarter of the packet and Leila looked at it expectantly.
The wetter it gets, the squishier it gets… the squishier it gets, the more bubbles it releases… the more bubbles it releases, the greener the water gets… and so on…
Leila even washed her hair with it, but only after I’d reassured her that it wasn’t going to make her hair go green. Much. (it didn’t really make her hair go green, the picture below is of me telling her that her hair is green – bad Mum!)
All in all, she had more fun with it than us adults but she’s a total Lushie anyway (favourites being: The Godmother soap, Mmmelting Marshmallow Moment, Karma Bath Melt, and The Comforter). I was surprised to see that there was still almost half of what we’d broken off remaining, despite Leila having given it a total pummeling – I’d describe these as longer-lasting bubble bars although the scents aren’t quite as full-on (possibly a good thing?!)
Not that this appeared to bother my little bathing belle. Or, demonic-looking diva as the photo below TOTALLY proves. Talking of divas…she has already lined up the remaining bars in the order that she’s planning on using them over the coming weeks.
LUSH Fun? Well… she thought so!
LUSH FUN is available to buy instore and online at lush.co.uk, priced at £5.00 per bar (you should be able to get around 4/5 baths per bar) and 10p from each sale of FUN goes to help children affected by the Fukushima disaster.

That does look fun but is it kind to the skin? Sometimes Lush products are very perfumed is this? Thanks
Hi Stephanie, *touch wood* we haven’t had any problems so far and that’s with anything I’ve chucked in the bath with her. At first, I was very cautious because she had quite bad eczema as a baby (only on her face though).
I must admit that I’ve become more and more gung-ho about what products I put in her bath simply because she hasn’t reacted badly to anything. I’m sure that one day she’ll react and I’ll feel the guilt of a 1000 mothers…. but until then, she’s just having fun with ALL OF THE BUBBLES.
Aw, these photos are adorable! Widdle feets! :3
It does look interesting, though not having tots and being the type of bather who likes to sit there until I look like a lobster, I think I’ll stick to Marshmallow Moment and The Comforter (good taste, Leila!)
L is totes adorbs! Note I temporarily lost the ability to speak full words from the cute overdose. Awwwww!
Haha thanks Leah, how you doing missus – haven’t seen you around on twitter much? x
I’d already marked these down to get for my 3yo as he lives baths and it play-doh obsessed at the moment. Looks like it will be a winner.
Oh my gosh, YES. L isn’t really into play dough so I can only imagine how much fun your boy would have.
One of the best reviews I’ve read all year! The photos (esp. the one of the running water droplets) are incredible!
Putting Lush Fun on the list for my soon-to-be 3 year old.
Haha it turned into a bit of an impromptu photo session, should have realised that all those white walls would have made it a bit of a neat little studio! I’m just relieved (looking back) that her fingernails/toenails weren’t dirt-encrusted – though they could do with a snip!
I want to buy all of these just so I could have as much fun in the bath as it looks like she has had! Oh to be young again.
These remind me of the mouldable soaps The Body Shop used to do! I had a yellow one when I was about 7 that I had LOADS of fun with. Might have to pick one up for myself for nostalgia!
With Lush I’ve got to say that until I was 15 the bubble bars were the only bath bubbles I could have due to having VERY sensitive skin. Although they’re highly perfumed I think the surfactants are less harsh? Definitely worth a go for anyone whose little ‘uns (or in fact themselves!) find bubbles too aggravating.
