It takes a special kind of lady to rock certain styles – I’m not a special kind of lady, “speshul” maybe…
I’ve been eyeing up some pretty hair jewellery around the interwebs and wondering what it would take for me to take the plunge and invest in a pretty piece. I think the answer lies somewhere near the bottom of the bottle of Malibu lurking in the fridge. Yes, I’m uncool enough to still love a bit of Malibu!
Silver Wings ($40.00) | Wildfox Daisy Chain (£47.47) | Kyoto Moon-Kanzashi Geisha Hair Stick ($40.00) | Moustache Ear Cuff (£8.00)
Honestly? I can just imagine getting horribly tangled up in it all the time. Perhaps it’s a trend better suited to those with effortlessly sleek locks that seemingly never frizz?
Me? I’d turn my head too quickly and attach myself to a fucking kitchen cupboard.
Do you own and wear any hair jewellery? Hair bands and combs don’t count – I’m talking proper barnet bling!
I AM IN LOVE!! Not sure I’d ever wear them but I love them…
I love them! But alas could never pluck up the courage! I saw a daisy chain head band in Primark and so wanted it but hell, I feel foolish in a hat in winter so could never brave these!
The last line made me cackle because I know I’d do the exact same thing. Either that or get it hopelessly tangled in my hair trying to put it in and have to cut all my hair off. Guarantee it.
I love the daisy chain. It reminds me of my mom’s photograph when she was younger she wore exactly the same design cool!
I’m the same. I wish i could pull off the elegance that these pieces require but i know i’d developed the worst head itch ever the minute i left the house an they don’t seem very head itch compatible.
I’ve got a few blingy hair stick type ones – have to have really sorted my hair out to wear them though and generally with an LBD – they are definately statement pieces! I can’t go too much chain on them though as my nearly waist length hair would eat it alive!
A genuine lol at this. Lol is a funny term – it wasn’t massively loud, but it was good for me, and exceptional compared to most stuff I read, maybe a lom (laugh out medium-ish). Anyway, I think the hair jewellery is so pretty, but dread to think how long I’d need to spend with the GHDs to get my hair to accommodate this trend. A week, maybe. xx
Oh and nothin’ wrong with a bit of Malibu. Nothin’ at all. I’m a Midori fan myself. Got to love a liquor that looks like Fairy Liquid.
The wings are really pretty but I don’t think this is a look for me, I’d probably be next to you, stuck to the next cupboard :-/ I saw a girl in Ibiza wearing some hair jewellery and she looked great, but she gave off that effortlessly cool vibe anyway, damn her.
that is what I lack too!
we’re chic-less – that’s what it is. Perhaps if we all went to Paris or something, stalked some French women – osmosis… it’s gotta be worth a try? Although knowing me, I’d fall into the nearest Boulangerie and struggle to escape from the lure of the brioche/pain au chocolat/pain au raisin. Not chic.
ooooh baguette and cheese, yep, so un chic!
My hair is too fine to hold a bobby pin, never mind anything heavier! I make fascinators, too, and I can’t even wear my own work.
I’m the same, fine and spare hair. I have to use children’s bobbles and clips, and even then I have to use some Got 2 Be Powderful in my hair to give it some texture to grip to.
If I could wear them, I would.
Even with the Powderful I’m a sad case; even the kiddie clips leave me! My mother’s hair, of course, is thick and curly and lovely, so I was a great disappointment to her as a child. 😉
I LOVE the look of them, but I’m so lazy with styling my hair. I don’t think pretty chains and charms would look quite right in a frizzy, curly mop.
Oooh the ones from The Ancient Muse are gorgeous. I’ve never bothered before but I just might 🙂 thanks for the links 🙂
Well I just bought one of these http://www.etsy.com/listing/36989010/rainbow-scale-maille-hair-fork so I guess we’ll see how it goes! It’s the fanciest hair thing I’ve ever bought 😮
That’s really lovely! Very summery, hope you have fun wearing it!
Me too :> I’m pretty excited.
