This month sees a new foundation release from Rimmel London which promises to instalntly re-awaken skin with a healthy, radiant looking glow. Otherwise known as Wake Me Up Foundation. We could all do with a bit of that no?
The formula contains tiny ‘radiance pearls‘ to help illuminate the complexion… but I can’t see them, so they really must be erm, tiny. It’s not one of those sparkly foundations that luminize by turning your face into a disco-ball, put it that way. It’s medium/full coverage and conceals an uneven skintone brilliantly… I can also feel some significant silicone going on with a primer-y slip that effectively conceals larger pores better than many foundations I’ve tried. And I’ve tried a lot.
I’m using the lightest shade (Ivory), which as you can see above – is a hair too dark and a hair too warm for me. This isn’t groundbreaking stuff… when you only have six shades in your range, you’re not going to have a shade for everyone. Something to bear in mind if you’re on the pale end of NW15 (I’d class myself somewhere inbetween NW15/NW20).
It claims to last 10hrs, I’d say it gets close to that for me, a little bit of slip down the bridge of my nose but it wasn’t sliding off my face by lunchtime.
Infact, I think this is pretty darn amazing for an £8.99 price tag. Except for one thing. It hates dry skin… if you have any flakes, no matter how invisible they may be when you’re bare-faced – once you’ve applied this, you’ll be scratching at them in an attempt to dislodge. I can’t comment on how this would work for oily skin types, I think you may experience a little too much slip as I didn’t feel this was particularly mattifying.
On my cheeks, where my skin is ‘normal’ – this foundation worked flawlessly, better than flawlessly thanks to it’s pore-busting properties but over my problem (dry) areas, it struggled. In other words… I’m coming back to this when I get my dry skin under control and I may not stray for a while.

I wouldn’t bet my life on a high-street foundation going the course on oily skins – BUT, I wouldn’t have bet my life on getting such surprisingly good pore coverage from this one either. So, I guess I’m saying that I don’t know. Helpful aren’t I? I don’t get *too* much slip on my nose… but it’s not perfect at the end of the day. I’d say that it’s worth giving it a try.
Darn dry skin! Mine is getting much better so I mught try this soon! The silicone-yness sounds interesting.
oh noooooooooo. I love everything about this foundation. The name, the design of the bottle, the fact it has little particles of radiance pearls in it but especially THE ORANGE LID. I think everything orange is wonderful and orange is now I think my favourite stuff. I am obsessed with anything orange.

I am still going to have to help myself from a mini drop from the foundation in a little tester and check it for myself but I am not hopeful.
Any recommendations of foundations for sahara dry skins?

High street? Bourjois Healthy Mix but if you’re combo, you might be wishing for something that lasts a bit longer on your oily bits. x
Oh, also the GOSH one – Natural Touch Foundation, that’s *really* moisturising. A little too moisturising for all but my cheeks.

I mean that I think this foundation (in Ivory) is darker than what’s considered a pale shade by a big cosmetic player such as MAC (who use the NW/NC rating to guide users into buying the correct foundation shades).
This has nothing to do with the foundation, but I have to say you look super awesome with that fringe!

Is this anything like the Recover foundation they used to have? I loved it as a teenager but I remember it being on the sparkly side.
I see it’s currently £5.99 in Boots…might just have to try it as I don’t have much to lose at that price.

This sounds divine. Rimmel’s foundations are always so orange though. They need a bigger shade range asap.
You really should try the new 24hour Lancome foundation, it is amazing, brilliant for dry skin, the coverage is light to medium and it is beautiful. I have so many unloved foundations in my collection but this is a keeper. Get to the Lancome counter now for a free 7 day sample. Its the best I have tried in a while and I think it sounds like something you might like.
Your skin does look pretty awesome with it on (and before too. Obvs.) It’s a shame Rimmel’s ‘Ivory’ is so dark- I’d love to use this, and I’ve tried ones like the Stay Matte which I liked, but they are just SO. ORANGE. One of the worst Ivory shades on the high street! xxx

Did you not get any sparkles with this? I swatched it earlier today and later noticed glitter all over the back of my hand (although I was touching a few eyeshadows as well so can’t be 100% sure it was the foundation)…
