Leila is massively excited for Hallowe’en this year… so much so that I’ve been debating breaking my own anti-halloween stance and dressing her up as a pumpkin whilst parading her up and down the street. However, Mr. L is really grumpy about this and he NEVER puts his foot down on anything, so I’m thinking I might let him win with this battle.
Where he ain’t gonna win is on the face-painting front. I’ve already told Leila we’re gonna have a day of face-painting fun and she’s buzzing at the prospect. Every morning she finds me to tell me what she wants to be transformed into, yesterday it was a dinosaur and this morning, she’s graduated to a strawberry. If you have any recommendations for good face-painting kits, I’m all ears. No, she’s not using my makeup.
Anyway, for the bigger kids among us, here’s some lovely things to get you in the mood for a bit of ghost-hunting!

I’m not really anti-Halloween, I’m just a bit anti trick-or-treating but in my defence, that’s mostly because our average trick or treater can barely raise an adolescent grunt before holding their hand out to mug me for my Haribo.
Do you partake in any Halloween-y frolics?
Ooh I adore Halloween! It’s my favourite holiday- I grew up in the States and had fabulous haunted houses and house parties and great trick- or- treating. England hasn’t learned how to do it properly yet!
Snazaroo make great face- paint and glitters. They don’t irritate my daugters’ skin and they wash off (and out of things) easily. Have fun!
I love Halloween and have taken to consulting Martha Stewart for pumpkin design ideas and without tooting my own horn, think I’m getting pretty good! I just think it’s fun and cosy with all the orange and other autumnal colours. It’s kind of just an excuse for me to be a big kid, bake scrummy food and watch Practical Magic and Hocus Pocus. Love the look of the Philosophy kit, right up my street. I’m also a professional face painter. My kist is a mixture of snazaroo and paradise paints.
Aw here we rarely get teens, we took Emmy for the first time last year and she had a blast, got extra sweets too as she looked cute! She wanted to be a cat as she didn’t want to be scary!
Ooh, lusting over that Eyeko polish.
I laaaaaaaaaaaaahve Halloween.
Um, how did I not know until this very moment that Lolita Lempicka make limited edition fragrances every Halloween??? This time of year is my favorite, Lolita has been my signature scent for years, and I even have a birthday in October! Luckily, fiancé was lax this year in the gift department, so I may be able to work this one in! Thanks C!!!
You should come over to America to experience what real trick-o-treating is like. It’s sort of a big deal here :P.
I’m just in love with the Lolita perfume just for the packaging… :O
Anyway, just noticed that buyapowa are selling a snazaroo face painting kit on their site at the moment strangely enough – I have no idea how good it is but I saw a few people mention it above (its £4 at the moment, down from £10.99 and is near the £3.50 best price!)
Agree on the trick or treaters – I think people should only get chocolates from me if they’ve made an effort with their costume – a 15 year old in jeans and a scary mask just doesn’t cut it!
As always, I WANT that Philosphy duo.
Omnom.
