Morning!
It’s Leila’s 2nd Birthday Party today and I’ve been in the kitchen for what feels like the past 72hrs solid. I don’t know why I’ve bothered to be honest… I know my girl and she’d be happier with a Curly Wurly than any of the ‘creations’ I’ve lovingly put together. Oh well, I’m happy to sacrifice my waistline for the greater good.
Anyway, this week’s fantabulous Lipstick League…
This week’s question of the week…
What was the first beauty product that you ever tried?
There are two products in particular that I remember spending my money on when I was younger… we’re talking about 16 years ago. The first was a mid-lilac eyeshadow in the Avon Colour Trend range, I thought it looked hawt. Infact, I still reckon it probably did. What?! It totally did!
It had horrible lurid green packaging and a sponge applicator that I WORE through, I loved it so much.
The other product that I remember repurchasing fairly often from my local chemist was a compact powder. I can’t remember what brand… but I think the shade was called Candlelight? It didn’t have a mirror or anything fancy(!) like that… but I can always remember patting it on my shiny nose with those little powder puffs in the toilets at school!

What was the first beauty product that you ever tried?
I had a Polly Pocket make-up kit with a lilac eyeshadow, pink lipstick, very pink blush, and pressed powder. Later I got a few Barbie perfume vials with dolls, and a peel-off Barbie nail varnish.
Then at some point in my pre-teens I got a Natural Collection eyeshadow and lip colour stacker which I still haven’t used up. That was followed by Natural Collection clear mascara, and eventually I got into buying Rimmel stuff because it was stocked in small chemists and therefore easier to get hold of than anything found in Superdrug and Boots only. I think I’m actually going to do a sort of make-up timeline post soon.
Mary Quant lipgloss, sticky and fabulous
It would have to be my Rimmel London Vinyl Stars lipgloss. I thought I was the hottest thing around when I wore it.
At the ripe age of 21 (did I say repressive family LOL), it was a black eyeliner with felt pen by L’Oreal. Cute memories…. thank you for putting a smile on my face.
I think “Candlelight” may have been Max Factor Creme Puff powder, loved that. Probably the first thing I bought too.
I remember my first lipstick ever was Avon About Town-Coco Poco and I just loved the name and the color. I also bought Avon Windsor-Coco Poco. The tubes were really pretty. I just can’t find this color anywhere, I wish Avon would come back with this lipstick again.
