If mine do that I usually just peel the petals open a tiny bit at the end and it forces them to open. Also are they somewhere too cool (temperature rather than hip n trendy). A warmer room may help.
Either they’ve been cut too early or the florist has been a little naughty and kept in very cold place to preserve their ‘about to fully open’ state. xx

Thanks ladies! So, I think that the moral of the story may be not to bother buying them in January! I’ve got them parked infront of a huge window and they’re not budging! Will try the peel trick, they haven’t got much life left anyway!

Agree with all the ladies above, and whenever we have any lazy flowers I tend to throw a little bit of lemonade in to the vase. It must be the sugar but it tends to liven them up a bit, well.. most of the time!
