I have no idea what the new fragrance by Bottega Veneta smells like — though leathery floral chypre sounds promising — but it’s this short film by director Christian Weber that really gives me the chills.
They say
This film, The Scent, is an intense and compelling visual journey which tells the story of the fragrance.
I say
Slow start, promising middle and a cracking, action-packed finish that would make Bruce Willis proud. Move over Claudia Winkleman, I’m chasing your Film 2011 gig.
Seriously though, does anyone else a little shiver watching this?
Many shivers. Maany shivers indeed, it was beautiful and I loved the music – although it’s not particularly useful if you’re trying to grasp what the perfume may smell like; since to me after that video, I’m now expecting liquid purity, elegance and beauty.
Beautiful video; sounds like Trent Reznor did the music…still haven’t a clue about the fragrance though.
I smelt it yesterday and I didn’t really like it.
It’s a very original scent but I think it’s a Marmite type, either you will love it or your will hate it. To me, it doesn’t smell like anything special but after spending an afternoon smelling perfumes yesterday I appreciate the fact that they’ve made something that smells unique. I was surprised at how samey samey ones there are out there.
I like light fragrances so I think that it would appeal to someone who is a bit older than me, it smells like the kind of perfume that someone with money would wear, if that makes sense?
What I mean by that last line is that it doesn’t smell cheap. You can tell they’ve put some effort into making the scent and I think that’s what you should do, if you’re known as a luxury brand then you should make an effort and make something befitting of your brand and not just whack cheaper smelling ingredients together.
I love the video, I swear my heart beat faster! This and the Dior J’Adore one are KILLING me right now. I’ve already exceeded my perfume buying quota for the month (and yes, I’m aware we’re not halfway through yet!) but still, I’d really like to discover more about this one. Off to see if I can find any reviews online.
