If you haven’t succumbed to the lure that is Urban Decay’s liner set… then may I gently steer you in the direction of this New Cid Eyes Lips & Cheek Palette.
I wasn’t sure quite how much of a bargain this palette was when I spotted it on ASOS a couple of weeks ago, but since having a closer look at the one that I was sent… I have to say, it’s a very good bargain indeed. And at £12? It’s a freakin’ steal!
Of course, you’re going to need to like neutrals to feel any joy in this palette – but if you do… or if you’re just looking for a palette that would fulfill your needs for when you get overtaken by an urge for a polished day look. This is the palette for you.
The palette includes: 4 eyeshadows (3 shimmer, 1 matte), 2 lipsticks (round pans – the 2 on the left), 1 lip gloss (the 1 on the right) and a blush.
The eyeshadows are generously sized at 5.4gm apiece.
The set also includes a brush but it has no shape… it’s next to useless. I don’t know why they even bothered. Horrible thing. Gah.
The shadows are a dream. They’re smooth, pigmented and blendable. The shades are spot-on and IMO particularly suited to cooler/neutral skintones. Simply some of the prettiest I’ve come across, and I’ve seen a few!
As for the lip and cheek ‘tray’… it’s also delightful. I’m not a big fan of lipsticks and glosses in pans like this… particularly when combined with powders. One would have to ensure that they swipe the blush in the opposite direction to the lip pans to prevent a big old mess of product cross-contamination.
The blush is swatched on the bottom and the lips from left to right as ordered in the palette.
I do also find the palette a little bulky. Whilst still completely portable for a weekend away, it’s not particularly slimline. I’m nit-picking… and at a cost of £24, that’s fair enough.
But for £12? For 4 beautiful shadows… a popping blush and lip colours that aren’t shit?
I’ve just bought one to give as a gift – it’s a cracking bargain and I suggest snapping it up while you still can!
oh my, how gorgeous is this. definitely worth ther money. Like you, I am not usually a fan of palettes which mix lip products and eye powder but this one is different and you feel the 2 compartments won’t contaminate each other. I would not like the powder to fall in the lip thing for example. Please please will you blog about what brush you carry with you to apply your lip colour, please pretty please? xx
Get ready for a ramble..
I went to a few of their concessions looking for a blusher and they were super glittery which is something I can’t wear to work and the ladies at the concessions didn’t try and force me to buy it, you know how some concessions just say “take it, it will work”.
I walked past another concession and the lady tried to “get me in” and I told her I’d swatched them somewhere else and she didn’t try and go for the hardsell.
The thing is, the blusher was super pigmented and would have been perfect if it wasn’t so glittery. I don’t know if they’ve made more matte-ish ones since I swatched (just before Xmas) but the one in this palette is far more suited to what I’d need, if they don’t make it in individual size, they should!
OMG This arrived in the post today!. Your review and photos are spot on…the eyeshadows are MASSIVE and just lovely. They are soft, but not crumbly, lovely neutral shades with just the right amount of shimmer (no metallic overload which I found with the UD Naked palette). The blush is a lovely cool barbie pink and the 4 lipglosses feel like a balm…feels light on the lips, not too sticky and pigmentation is pretty decent. The brush has already been binned (why do they even bother?) and replaced with my favourite Nivea Beaute soft eye liner. I love it!
I got this from asos and reviewed it, i love it, but my ‘tray’ just falls out! Maybe i got a dodgy one because no else seems to mention it happens on theirs 🙁 lol xxx
The palette I got is fine, the try stays put so far…
this is cute:) and gorgeous olours, but im never a fan of pallettes that contain lip colours and eyeshadows/ powdery products together 🙁 at the power always finds its way into the lip colours 🙁 xxx
A definite bargain! Well done.

I picked this up half price from ASOS and I agree that it’s a wonderful product. Although the colours are all neutral, I do find that they’ve got a kick to them – the blush is quite bright and the lip colours are all wearable, rich berry tones. The quality of the product itself is fantastic, but I do feel that the packaging lets it down – it’s too bulky as you say, and also a bit flimsy (the tray just comes right out!). It’s made of white cardboard so I will have to take extra care not to ruin it when carting it around.
£12? Seems like a bargain! The colors are good and the size of the eyeshadows is very generous! Will have to check out asos soon! X
nice eyeshadow palette
What a beauty… I am about to swim over 🙂
