I’ve never been fully sold on tattoos, I love looking at the designs and I appreciate the work that goes into creating a successful piece of permanent body art.
But truly? I can barely decide which socks to put on in the morning. Choosing something as permanent as a tattoo would send me into some kind of mental turmoil treatable only by electroshock therapy. It is with pure joy then, that I discovered Jinny Rainbow.
Recently launched in Selfridges, Jinny Rainbow offers beautiful glitter body illustrations that last up to 7 days. The glitters and powders used are hypo-allergenic promising skin-friendly artwork for all.
You can choose between selecting an on the spot design undertaken by a body artist or if you would prefer attempting a bit of DIY designage (is that a word?) you can purchse handy kits to create personalised designs at home.
Spoiled for choice, Jinny Rainbow carries a selection of over 100 vibrant glitter pigments and shimmers plus 200 exclusive stencil designs.
How beautiful is that? My inner 4yr old is climbing the walls with excitement and trying to work out if I’ve got time to swing by Selfridges this afternoon for a nosey!
So how much would this kind of frivolity set you back? With prices starting from £5 for on-the-spot designs and from £30 for starter kits it’s not exactly gonna break the bank is it?
Do you need a bit of glitter in your life? I’m thinking a sparkly bluebird on my shoulder.. Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah and all that.
They’re beautiful!! I think they’re prettier than normal tattoos… I mean who has a normal tattoo that’s glittery?! You should definitely try it out 🙂
Oh, that’s just gorgeous! I’m too much of a wimp to have a tattoo, it would be my luck that as soon as the work starts I’d faint or something and end up with either just a smudge or a half finished masterpiece! Besides which my mother would kill me if she found out (yes I am nearly 40 and still scared of my mother!).
This I could definitely do though, I can imagine something bright and gorgeous with a summer maxi dress and sandals. Lovely! I’ll have to take a swing past Selfridges next time I’m in London. Can it be bought anywhere else do you know?

I saw these at the clothes show! Great fun and very pretty. Sure to find glitter everywhere afterards though!! x
Ooooh sparkly 😀
Hmm it’s actually the glitter that puts me OFF these – which is unusual as I’m normally a real magpie!
“My inner 4yr old is climbing the walls with excitement” LOL, so is mine! 😀 They are so pretty. Shame I don’t have any occasions coming up to have one done, but maybe in the summer? I wish my 8-year-old was into things like this, the furthest we’ve got is painting her nails, I would love to take her along and get one done for both of us. 🙂
I want it, I want it!!!!!
I’ve been wanting to take some Mehndi lessons for ages…. Real permanent tats have never intetested me, but body art that lasts a week, now that I’d like to play with.
oh my god I NEED one of those in my life.
would they not feel a bit rough though?
love the post. totally my kind of thing. love body art, love versatility of temp tattoos. I dont think I have ever been in a selfridges before. I am not sure they will let me in, i look like a scruf.
Love this! Had a go with it last week and posted a photo on my blog. I got a little butterfly, it was so cute, and it’s definitely something I’d consider for a holiday or something!
xoxo
I love them, they look so sparkly and fun!
Gorgeous!! I love how sparkly t hey are, and they appeal to my -wants-a-tattoo-but-not-the-permanence. And the price seems super reasonable! Do they eventually wear off? Or do you have to use a special remover?
Those are so gorgeous. It’s a shame it’s not halter-top weather more often in the UK!
What a lovely art!
I want to wear stuff like this everyday of my life *__*
I used to be obsessed with tattoos and wanted heaps, but now I don’t really care if I get any or not! I guess it’s because I’m terribly indecisive, and I love that I can change my look with makeup and it’ll wash off eventually.
@AlicatAHL – Selfridges in London and Manchester, or you can buy a DIY kit online from £20 xx Nowhere else I’m afraid.
@Lucy, you’d imagine they would… but surely they can’t? It would feel crappy under clothes if it did. I will be sure to let you know next time I’m up in London
The picture is gorgeous! But no, I would not actually get this simply because I HATE glitter tattoos. I hate most things glitter, apart from cosmetics, etc. But as you said it’s definately good for the OCD type person, like you, considering you can’t even choose socks! Woman! 😛 aha.
£30?! I was honestly expecting you to say maybe £15 for a starter kit, but hey, this is most likely those top quality things. I’d actually consider getting this if they had a matte range, but it’s not something I’m drooling over so…. 😛
Just to let you all know Jinny Rainbow can also be purchased online http://www.jinnyrainbow.com and in our head salons:

They really are worth a try….xx
