Cosmetifique is a newly launched iPhone app that promises to analyse the ‘quality’ of your cosmetics. You enter the ingredients one by one and you can get an overall view of the “toxicity” of your makeup.
So, is knowledge power? Or a little (mis)information a dangerous thing?
I’ve downloaded it and will play for a few days before sharing my thoughts. Do you think much about the ingredients of the cosmetics you wear daily? Do you know your Methicones from your Sorbitan Sesquioleates?
Some people are so into their mineral makeup, and they don’t want to wear anything that “pore clogging” or whatever… I know I should probably try to get stuff that’s good for my skin, but if it looks good I don’t care about the ingredients. I’m just not someone who worries about it! This would be interesting to try though.
now i wanna buy iphone 🙁
Ooh have just downloaded this app- thanks for posting about it. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts xx
Hmm… I wonder what their definition of “quality” is. I guess this would be good for someone that’s allergic to a specific chemical and could pop on the Cosmetifique app when browsing in a store? Otherwise, cosmetics have loads of products that people have said are “bad for you”. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
