I’m thinking of buying one of these wandy things (or at least making a last minute plea to Father Christmas for one)…
All the cool kids seem to be using them and I’m fed up of living on the edge of society 😉
Do you use one?
I got sent some info on Diva Professional Styling and it was the conical wand in particular that caught my attention.
It’s freakin’ purple!
It gets props from me just for not being pink man….
It has a titanium barrel and I notice that one of it’s main competitors has a porcelain one… anyone with a brain care to share what they know about the differences between titanium and porcelain barrels? I promise not to yawn openly 😉 Joking aside, I genuinely am interested. I shall ask the PR lady and get back to you on that one.
So, apart from crisping up my hair and removing my fingerprints with the searing heat are there any other pitfalls I should know about?
What?
Oh hai spiral perm! Please go back to 1993 and die.
I actually had something simillar in Year 8 (is it still called year 8?) … not quite as big, but equally um… crispy.
Check out the Diva Titanium Hot Wand online at Sallys – guaranteed not to make you look like a 90s reject (unless you erm… want to)
I have the tigi version and love it, i use it all the time, mainly on my extensions. The first few times I used it, i burnt myself but now I have mastered the art 🙂
I think you should get this. And then do a crispy spiral perm. It would be amazing.
But seriously. I havebeen wondering about getting one myself – I would like one which comes with a Michael Jackson stylee heat protective glove…
I have to say, I don’t really understand the purpose of the conical irons. What is it that they do differently from a regular curling iron? How do you use it exactly? I’m envisioning curls that are tight on the top and loose on the bottom… weird.
hahah! 1993, I remember when my mom got her perm, I was in first or second grade, she looked hott! this is a nifty little tool
I have considered the one that Babyliss advertised, and yeah, I did think that curls would come out tight at the top and loose at the bottom, like beeks said… very weird indeed. 😛
But did I tried one out at a friends’, and the curls were on the tight side, but looked very nice! Although it was a pain to keep the hair on the damn wand, and I probably burnt myself so many times that I just lost count and couldn’t feel them anymore, that I was just let down by the whole thing. Tight-ish curls weren’t worth it, and besides, I’m only up for gorgeous loose waves. 😛
If you do decide to get one, please let us know how your experience was with it! I’d love to find out from someone who’s more of a reviewing person, like you, to pick out the small bits that annoy us ( 😛 ) rather than me, someone who just wants the dayum hair to sit on the curler and magically become luscious. Aha. 🙂
I have been thinking about getting one for a while as I though they might be easier to use than regular tongs on shorter hair. If you do get one I would love to hear how you get on
I’ve been wanting to buy a curling iron/rod for a while. I need a new way to do my hair, but it’s so fine and thin, I don’t know how well I can curl it without a professional :p
I imagine that would give you nice tight curls. It’s PURPLE! Which is a good enough reason to buy it 🙂
I really love my jumbo sized tongs, it gives me that hollywood, big curl thingy. Lol, can’t put words into sentences this morning 😛
But now I’ve got short hair, it would look silly if I used a big barelled tong.
Oooh, those crunchy perms from high school… I remember blow-drying my curly hair straight (this was before straighteners) because I so hated this look and didn’t want my curls to be mistaken for it!
Lol! My hair was sooo like that from year 6 to year 10!!!! I’m tempted by one of those thingys but I don’t think i’ll bother, i’m a sucker for the speed and ease of using my straighteners to curl my hair- i know it’s a different effect but it’s all i can be arsed to do!!
Never used one of them myself but here they are really good.
