So, I’m not a big glitter fan. I’m really not. I don’t mind how it looks (as long as it’s not rainbow coloured)… but the thought of the removal process makes me want to stick forks in my eyes.
Barielle sent me a couple of shades for review, and I may have physically shuddered in a glitter-induced repulsion when I saw this one.
I mean look…. it’s chunky!
However, the polish itself is a beautiful mid-toned blue, infact it’s quite an unusual combination… I’ve never seen blue and copper combined like this in a polish. Website describes it as gold, but it’s definitely a more rose gold/coppery colour.
I am *so* on a blue kick since that George beauty. And this Barielle shade is doing nothing to quench those flames! B-e-a-utiful!
I don’t like the rough feeling that glitter polishes leave and despite a top coat… my mani still felt bumpy but there’s no denying the blue/copper combination works.
I’ve waited ’till removal before writing up this post, and removal was just as horrible as I had anticipated… in the end, I poured some polish remover into the cap of the bottle and soaked each finger individually before I developed RSI from all the wiping.
These Barielle’s are probably some of the longest-wearing polishes I’ve used. 6 days in with this one and I have absolutely no tip wear. Application was fine, with no issues at all. I don’t know if glitter polishes tend to have more or less issue with application than normal? But this was good.
Are you a fan of glitters? Any removal tips for me? Liking this one?
I LOVE this. Cracking colour combi. I must get some glitter polishes for the festive season
xx
Wow, i have to say that looked horrible in the bottle, but gorgeous on your nails!
It’s a lovely colour! I agree that removing glitter polishes is a real pain. I just use lint free nail wipes to remove mine but it does take a bit of effort! x
I’ve never tried Barielle but I do like the look of them.
Glitter removal. Don’t scrub as you end up massaging glitter all over your nails and shredding and weakening them. I found this out to my cost earlier this year and am STILL growing out the breaks.
Instead, take cotton pads and drench them in remover, literally til they are dripping. Hold a pad against your nail (I can usually do two at a time, depends how big your pads are) and press down hard for about 30 seconds. I use the nails of the other hand to press down the pad, thus doing both hands at once. Don’t move it or be tempted to rub.
Peel it off after allotted time and with a fresh pad (also drenched), press down hard and swipe it all off in one go. You might need to remove more bits from round the edges but that should break the back of it.
HTH!
wow colour is amazing LOVE IT. but i have to say, your nails are AMAZING. i’m literally full of envy!!
I second everything Helen says about removal – don’t swipe, soak! I’ve scratched up the surface of my nails in the past doing this tricky chore.
Copper and royal blue… I am remembering that combination!
@Sian – Isn’t it unusual? It works so well!
@Redtiger21 – I know!! I wasn’t at all keen when I saw the bottle! x
@tackyblueeyeshadow – so time consuming!! I think it’ll have to be a special polish that tempts me.
@Helen – Thanks for those awesome tips, I had no idea you could scrape the nail. I shall have to be more careful in future. As I said, I just soaked my nails but I did find that doing it that way dried out my cuticles something rotton! I shall try your way next, thanks chicka xx
@ginny – thank you xxx
@Sarah – Scraped nail beds sounds like something I’d want to avoid :o/ – the colour is a fab combination! x
For glitter removal – Wet a cotton ball in acetone, apply it to your nail, and wrap your fingertip in tin foil. Wait five minutes. Remove. Most of the glitter should be completely gone without having to scrub. Hope that helps. 🙂
use a clear coat before applying glitter! works a dream 🙂
